AITAH for getting mad at my friend for sending me Instagram reels?
My friend (27 woman) and I (26 trans woman) have been friends for a little over a year now. Shes a well meaning person, but is very prone to being very gloomy and pessimistic about things, especially with current events. Over the past year she has gotten into the habit of sending me Instagram reels about current events that are going on, which I don’t mind since I like keeping up to date (even if what she sends me I already know most of the times), but will always have a messages attached like “we’re so fucked” or “how will we survive”. It would bother me a bit before, but I would be a supportive friend and comfort her. However, recently I started taking estrogen, yippee for me, and with all the myriad of side effects I’ve been dealing with, I’ve been struggling the most with my heighten emotions. With this in mind and my friend ramping up her doom reel sending, I requested she stopped sending me this kind of stuff for my mental well being. Just last night she started sending them again, and after I told her that I didn’t want that kind of stuff being sent to me, she goes all gloomy saying she’s a bad friend and this is why she never can hold on to anyone. I, for some reason, snapped at this saying she’s was being childish and manipulative and how she couldn’t even say a real apology and could only think about how this made her feel bad. She then spammed me with messages about how she doesn’t want to be friends anymore if I think she’s such a bad person and how this proves she can’t be redeemed and should just leave. Did I mess up calling her out on her behavior and aitah for getting mad about her sending me Instagram reels?
