r/startups · r/freelance · r/entrepreneur I'm building an AI tool that analyzes contractors/freelancers before you hire them — would love brutal feedback
Hey r/freelance (and anyone who's ever made a bad hire),
I've been burned by hiring freelancers/contractors before — and I know I'm not alone. After one too many "great on paper, disaster in practice" situations, I started building Clausify — an AI-powered tool that helps you vet contractors before you sign anything.
Here's what it does:
- Analyzes contractor profiles, proposals, and reviews for inconsistencies
- Flags red flags you might miss when you're in "we need this done yesterday" mode
- Generates trust and reliability scores based on available data
- Helps you compare multiple candidates side-by-side, faster
I'm still in validation mode — no hype, just genuinely trying to figure out if this solves a real problem before I build too much of it.
I'd love your honest take on a few things:
- What's your biggest headache when hiring contractors or freelancers remotely?
- Would you actually use something like this — and under what circumstances?
- What would make you trust (or not trust) an AI-generated reliability score?
- What features would make this worth paying for?
Roast-level feedback is genuinely welcome. "This already exists" is useful. "Nobody would pay for this" is useful. "You're solving the wrong problem" is especially useful.
Particularly curious to hear from:
- Agency owners and startup founders doing remote hiring
- People who've been badly burned by a contractor (tell me the story)
- Contractors themselves — what would you think if a client ran you through something like this?
If you want to poke at an early version or jump on a quick call to share feedback, drop a comment or DM me. Happy to return the favor however I can.
Thanks in advance — even if you just upvote and move on, I appreciate you 🙏
