From Fujifilm X100VI to Sony A7V + Sigma 24-70 — worth it for an amateur?
Hey everyone,
I’m going to Japan soon and I’ve been seriously thinking about buying a Sony A7V with the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 while I’m there. Right now I’m using a Fujifilm X100VI and honestly it started to feel limiting for me lately.
I mostly shoot street photography, nature, portraits, and I also do video pretty often. I’m not a professional photographer or filmmaker at all — still very much an amateur who just enjoys shooting and learning.
The X100VI is amazing for portability and everyday carry, but I feel like I’m starting to want more flexibility, especially interchangeable lenses, better video performance, and overall room to grow creatively.
Also, weight honestly isn’t a big issue for me — I don’t mind carrying a heavier setup if it gives me better results and more flexibility. Budget is also not really a problem, but I probably wouldn’t go beyond the A7V price range.
So I wanted to ask:
Do you think going for the A7V + Sigma 24-70 makes sense for someone like me, or is it overkill for an amateur?
Would love to hear opinions especially from people who moved from Fujifilm to Sony.
