Is this TRUE - AI search engines prefer “simple explanation” content over expert sounding content?

I’ve been comparing pages that show up in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity answers, and a weird pattern keeps appearing.

A lot of highly cited pages are not the most technical ones. They’re usually the pages that explain things in very simple language, answer the question quickly, and avoid long intros or jargon.

Feels like AI systems prefer content that is easy to extract and summarize rather than content trying too hard to sound authoritative.

Curious if other people tracking AI citations are seeing the same thing.
