5 Days in Athen

Hello guys,

we’re planning to spend 5 days in Athens with my parents (50–55 years old) and wanted to ask which area would be best to stay in. We’re looking for a nice and safe neighborhood with good access to sightseeing, great restaurants, cafés, and some more upscale/fancy food spots.

Also, would you recommend renting a car while staying in Athens, or is it better to get around by public transport/taxis? And are there any nice beaches near Athens that are worth visiting by car for a day trip?
