Is German Twitter's take on Gdansk/Wroclaw actually representative of how most Germans feel, or is it just a bubble?
In the past year, I saw a very specific type of post go slightly viral on Twitter at least 5 times. Usually, some page posts a nice modern photo of Gdansk, and then the comment section gets filled with literally hundreds, sometimes even thousands of Germans commenting "this is Danzig," "Poles are thieves," "it's called Danzig, not Gdansk," etc. The same goes with Wroclaw/Breslau, but for some reason, they do it more often with Gdansk. From what I saw, most of these accounts are real, not bots, and are real Germans, with a location saying Germany, so I don't suspect bot activity. Sometimes Poles start engaging with them, and I like reading their fights, even tho it's mostly "no it's Danzig," "ummm no it's Gdansk," "no it's actually Danzig you moron," etc.
So, just out of curiosity, are Germans opinions on twitter on that topic a good representation of how most Germans feel about it? Obviously an average German is not going to work thinking "oh how much I hate Poles, they stole Danzig, what a bunch of thieves, wrrr". I assume he's not thinking about Poland at all, let alone some city they got in 1945. But if I asked 1000 random Germans what do they think about it, would their opinions be similar to the twitter ones?
