Need help making a Decision
I have been into motion design and video editing for almost 3 yrs now, but I have still not worked with a client. I dont have any experience working for clients or youtubers. Me and my friend who is a scripter, have recently been trying to work together and find gigs, and pitch ourselves, offering our services as a package. I have been following a paranormal investigation channel for a long time now, from when they started as a new channel. They usually post investigations but they also post talking head videos( case studies and stories etc) when they r not investigating haunted spots. I have noticed certain mistakes or issues in their editing like random cuts and low use of actual visuals of the case or motion graphics to help the viewer visualise the story etc. Recently they have slowly improved their editing a little, they r using more actual footage, I showed the videos to my friend and he also thinks their scripts r not that great. Like no hook and other stuff. We think we can help them but do not have any prior experience to show them. The channel's investigation videos usually do good, they average 100k+ views, but their talking head videos don't do well comparatively, they average around 40k views. We think these mistakes could be the reason their views r low and we could help them. I was planning on taking one of their videos, cutting out clips from that video and making a video pointing out mistakes and stuff and small points of how they can improve, then based on that we pitch our services as well. And we don't have a proper portfolio as well so that video could be our only chance. Because of the lack of experience we don't have the confidence that we can help them or our methods will help them. What should we do? Should we risk it?
