World Between Worlds theory (Rebels)

SpoilerTV

!While consensus seems to be 100% that Vader would have killed Ahsoka I don't really see why.!<

!Before Ezra jumps in, we see how the fight continued from Twilight of the Apprentice in key moments:!<

!1) Vader is bashing down overhead strikes to exhaust Ahsoka, we see her doing a dual-weapon parry and being forced to her knees. Vader still seems to be toying with her despite the whole "you will die!" thing. We know that he banters a lot like this - he was all "you will die braver than most!" to Ezra and then kept him alive for interrogation...!<

!2) there's a big lighting boom at the top of the temple - you see Ahsoka look up - we don't see but Vader was likely distracted by it too, which is why Ahsoka is able to force his blade and body back a couple feet with a force push - Ahsoka's attention snapped back faster!<

!3) this distance gives Ahsoka time to pull a Gandalf vs Baalrog maneuver and just jam her sabres into the floor trying to collapse the whole platform, ie "I can't beat him but I can take us both out"!<

!4) you see Vader briefly look up as the tracks travel toward him - meaning he probably looked up, got force-pushed, looked down at Ahsoka force-pushing him, then looked back up against at the collapsing ceiling, THEN finally looks back down at her as he winds up for a strike!<

!5) you do see Vader deliver a strike just as the floor collapses below him - so he was swinging at her -but why do we assume it was to kill?!<

!When I look the arc of that strike I honestly think he was just trying the Dooku maenuver - trying to cut off Ahsoka's wrists so she would stop damaging the floor and being a threat to him.!<

!It's entire possible at that point he'd pull a Sidious and just take the dismembered victim away for eventual cybernetic hand replacement - it helped turn him down the path of the darkside in ep 2>3 after all, Maul bounced back with a pair of new legs, etc.!<

!Vader has a big history with dismemberment- it's why he did it so readily against Mace Windu. Dismemberment isn't death to him - it's a rebirth, a transition, a way to become stronger. He told her "we need not be enemies" before and I think he meant it- he either would have delivered her to the emperor as a prize or groomed her recovery in secret as something akin to Starkiller or Luke as a tool against the Emperor.!<
