I’m Losing Faith in This Country

Rant/Vent

Honestly, I feel increasingly frustrated and disappointed with the state of this country.

Every time you open the news, there’s another scam, another corruption case, another horrific crime, another paper leak, another communal controversy, or another example of complete administrative failure. At some point it stops feeling like isolated incidents and starts feeling like a deeply rooted systemic problem.

Corruption feels embedded into everyday life. From local offices demanding bribes for basic work to large-scale scams involving powerful people, honesty often feels punished while manipulation and connections are rewarded. Ordinary people follow rules while influential people somehow always find loopholes.

Even after paying huge taxes, basic infrastructure in many places still feels terrible. Broken roads, garbage everywhere, weak public services, traffic chaos, pollution, poor urban planning, and lack of accountability have become so normalised that people barely react anymore. Civic sense is another major issue — littering, vandalism, ignoring traffic rules, reckless driving, and complete disregard for public spaces are visible almost everywhere.

The crime situation is horrifying too. Every single day there are stories about rapes, murders, scams, violence, crimes against women and children, communal hatred, and mob behaviour. Some incidents are so disgusting that they genuinely make you lose faith in society itself. And after a few days, everyone just moves on like nothing happened.

What frustrates me most is how broken the education and examination system feels now. Students spend years preparing honestly for exams like NEET and JEE, sacrificing sleep, hobbies, friendships, and mental peace believing that merit and hard work matter. Then paper leaks happen, cheating mafias operate openly, and administrative failures destroy trust completely. Today’s NEET leak is just another example.

Politics has also become unbearable to watch. Instead of focusing on education, healthcare, infrastructure, scientific thinking, jobs, or institutional reform, so much public discourse revolves around caste, religion, language, emotional manipulation, and constant political theatrics. Politicians with criminal records still keep winning elections while voters are divided over identity politics instead of actual governance.

And these fake “godmen” being worshipped like divine figures says a lot too. Some of these people are literal criminals accused or convicted of exploitation, abuse, fraud, rape, and violence, yet they still have millions of blind followers defending them no matter what.

Another thing that annoys me is that whenever someone genuinely raises concerns about corruption, crime, paper leaks, infrastructure, or governance, they immediately get labeled anti-national or negative instead of people actually discussing the issue. Meanwhile a huge section of the media keeps focusing on celebrity nonsense, political drama, religious outrage, and useless controversies for TRPs while real issues affecting ordinary people keep getting ignored.

And despite all this, there’s constant chest-thumping about becoming a “Vishwaguru” or global superpower while we still struggle with such basic issues at every level.

I know every country has flaws. I know social media amplifies negativity. And I know there are millions of hardworking and decent people in India too. But sometimes the scale of corruption, division, incompetence, blind fanaticism, and public apathy becomes so overwhelming that it genuinely feels like this country needs serious reform from top to bottom.
