Please can somebody explain to me why purchasing eBay is good for GameStop? I’d love for somebody to be able to answer my questions in the post in case I’ve missed anything.

💡 Education

I’m not a shill, I’m not spreading FUD. In fact I’m making this post to actually be enlightened by the idea and hoping to read lots of comments telling me why it’s good!

I’ve been holding since 2021, I’m not a big ape with only XXX shares, but I’m a euro poor.

  1. Other than the collectible and 2nd hand video game, what crossover does eBay and GameStop have that makes it a logical purchase?

  2. I’ve read about how physical GME stores would be good for eBay purchases, such as delivery and authentication of collectible cards, but how does this benefit countries where GME doesn’t operate? I’m in the U.K., eBay is huge here but I wouldn’t get any value as we have no GME stores?

  3. Does GME have anything else they’re working on to improve the company and value for shareholders other than this position? I know they’ve cut down their unprofitable stores, launched the digital pack opening, tried the NFT marketplace, made the repair supercenter, but if eBay fails what else are they working on?

  4. I’ve read a lot of people saying the proposal doesn’t mean they’ll sell shares, but last time they proposed a dilution they sold immediately and nothing happened for me as a shareholder. Why doesn’t the proposal include a clause that the dilution is only for an acquisition and won’t happen if it doesn’t go through? Is anybody aware of any other purchases they perhaps may be looking at?

  5. Has this happened before, usually acquisitions are bigger companies buying smaller companies in related markets to create a monopoly? To me it says GME insiders can’t make GME more profitable so they’re looking on the outside, am I right to be alarmed by this?

  6. Ryan Cohen, if the purchase is successful, will be compensated very well via share price, which in theory benefits the shareholder. But this man works for free and hires his own staff at his expense, and is a billionaire from other investments. He doesn’t seem financially motivated anymore? It it fails, it’s not like he needs the money. Or is this a good thing, because the rich like to get richer?

  7. It’s proposed we’re buying eBay, but to me it reads like we’re selling ourselves to eBay? I know we get a smaller slice of the pie but the pie is much bigger, but it seems odd to dilute the loyal shareholders who have backed you. If you knew 90% of your shareholders liked your plan(s) why would you invite so many outsiders to join the family who may not back you? I would guess eBay shareholders are not like us.

Again, I’m not trying to spread FUD I promise. I’m just full of questions as I’m sure all of you are, and I’m hoping the loyal community here can educate me on things I’ve perhaps missed.
