Will BTC ever be what it is meant to be

Guys and gals...I am a BTC believer and hate them banks. BTC has gone through rough times with attempts to fight it, ban it etc. which is not impossible to happen again once power shifts but it's still here.
Anyway, my point is to honestly ask you if you think that BTC is actually a hedge against failing, inflationary, corrupt systems etc.
It was created right after the GFC and is meant to be that absolutely scarce asset with a capped limited supply (can be increased but is difficult since it requires man independent actors to be on the same page) that would either hedge agains dollar, euro, yen, whatever or it would directly replace any/some/all of those.
However, even I, who am not any kind of specialist, can see it trades similar to the IGV (software stocks index) for some time now.
I want to stack sats (maybe a BTC if I can) but I want t stack it because of what it represents and what it is meant to be and because I want it to give my future self freedom. The fact that it trades as IGV though makes me think it will just be a technology and it will just go up and down in price and that's all.
Wanted to hear what you folks think about this, if you feel like sharing.
