Tile in Bedroom? Sensitive to Smells.
I recently moved into a newly built house where the carpet or more likely the carpet padding/backing and adhesive are emitting a smell. If I had to give a comparison; the smell is pretty similar to the adhesive smell of fresh bought masking tape. This can at times make me slightly dizzy, and when it builds up some light nausea or even a brief headache. Though the headache is quite rare. I've since learned that what I'm smelling is Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) off-gassing, and that the number one way to alleviate the issue is simply to open up the house to provide airflow, but humidity and temp variability in my area makes that somewhat difficult to do constantly.
Whilst I cannot change out the carpet in the living room as my family is against it, I have two rooms where my bed and computer reside that I am giving serious thought towards having the carpet removed and using tile. Unfortunately for a variety of reasons, namely an anxiety disorder and autism, I am worried that I may be spending money to cause a new problem.
My reasons for considering tile is that I find the flat surfaces comforting, ease of cleaning - be it sweeping or mopping, and the ease of keeping track of and treating any possible insect intrusions.
What are my best options for tile? I'd prefer not to have a textured surface. I would also like any emissions to be as little and non-existent as possible. I've heard about vinyl or laminate topped interlocking tiles with a rubber padding beneath and the use of adhesives. Don't those types of tiles use a pressed material with lots of chemicals in it? Wouldn't porcelain or ceramic be better with some grout? Does the grout off-gas to much? Does it accrue smells overtime? Is a matte surface tile going to harder to clean or easier to stain? How much time does it take for tile to set and be usable?
Essentially I'm looking for any information that an help me make a decision before I throw money at my problem. Any information related to potential smells, and VOCs would also be helpful even if anecdotal.
I don't know if my family intends to sell the house in the future, but I cannot have any conversations on what my options are or the path forward without information as I don't know what I don't know. I'm a mess right now with my anxiety an would appreciate any assistance.

In the spirit of Rule 1 & 2, I want to be explicit. I am not asking for any quotes, nor am I soliciting work.
This is a list of questions I've jotted down to ask the flooring people we are considering. Are there any other questions that I should be asking? Anything I've missed?
VOCs in materials, cement, rubber etc..
Removal of previous adhesive from concrete after taking carpet out?
Are we doing the hallway too?
Precisely what materials were used in the installation of the carpet, padding, and adhesive?
What Materials will be used in the installation of the tile?
Will it be similar to the grout or whatever bonding material they use for the tile?
Does it have an offgass period?
Do they have GREENGUARD, Scientific Certification Systems, or SGS Group approval materials & adhesives, bonding cement, grout?
Do they remember when the tile was installed for this house? (To get a sense of time until no smell)
What do they recommend for dealing with the adhesive smell on existing carpet?
Dry Steam? Heat?
Best guestimate for doing living room.
Do you have an itemized list of costs? Callout, Manpower, Materials, etc?

The questions above are for the flooring company that actually provided the installation of flooring for the house when it was built. That said, does anyone have experience with the quality of work Home Depot or other such stores that offer flooring services? The quality of the flooring company seems fine, but I don't have the experience to judge whether a job was done well or not. I want to be able to consider other options as the communication between the company is poor and perhaps even a smidge dismissive.
