What can I do to add to my resume to get hired.

So I just graduated with a History degree and I have had some friends who got some jobs as paralegals and law clerk but I haven't been able to find jobs in my area. I was told becoming a public notary could help me as well. I also do eventually plan to do an online certification for paralegal cert but I sorta need a job immediately lol. I do not want to go back to fast food or retail. So any advice would be welcomed! Thanks!
