Transition to Forensic Accounting

Hi all, wanting to get some perspective from others in forensic accounting. How did you get there and what skills helped you stand out?

Bit of background on me: masters in professional accounting with a minor in financial crime, CPA coming through in July most probably (waiting for exam results), two years in public practice and four years in project accounting. Forensics was always the goal but I couldn’t break in early on.

Now that I’m trying to make the move, employers don’t seem to see my experience as transferable and I’m being told I’d need to start at entry level, which means taking a ~$30k pay cut. The longer I wait the harder it feels like it’ll get.

Has anyone been through something similar? And honestly is this dream worth still chasing or should I let it go?
