My first trip to Kishanpur Wildlife sanctuary was an exciting, curious and hopeful experience to catch sight of the tiger in the wild. Kishanpur is situated inside the beautiful [**Dudhwa Tiger Reserve**](https://dudhwa-national-park.in/about-dudhwa-national-park.php), with open grasslands, a tranquil jungle atmosphere and great chances of encountering the tigers. I had watched animal shows and pictures before, but nothing is more thrilling and real than being in the jungle.

The forest was still covered in soft mist in the early morning when the safari started. The entrance to the sanctuary was a cool breeze and birdsong, which made the moment a memorable one for us on our gypsy. The sun slowly rose over the grasslands and Sal forests creating a magical scene. Our guide briefed us about the speciality of this sanctuary in terms of the wildlife photography and tracking the tigers which are one of the best opportunities in Dudhwa landscape.

Initially we saw deer quietly grazing on the edge of the forest. Some peacocks walked across the safari track and monkeys leapt from tree to tree above us. We were always amazed at what might emerge next as every moment spent in the forest was exciting. The guide suddenly noticed new pugmarks on the muddy track. All occupants inside the car froze and paid attention. The sense of a tiger being close at hand just increased the excitement.

After a short time we heard alarms of deer in the distance. The driver was requested by the guide to stop and remain silent. A complete hush fell upon the forest except for the sounds of birds, and the rustling of the grass. I was excited and my heart was beating fast as I held my camera, hoping to see the tiger. Then came the time of which I will never forget.

A majestic tiger patiently came out of the tall grassland onto the safari path. The tiger walked quietly and bravely, aware of everything. It was a great experience to see so fierce an animal in the wild and it was an emotional one as well. Its striped coat reflected the golden sunlight, enhancing its natural beauty and creating a perfect wildlife moment.

The tiger was staring right at our car for a couple of seconds, then it disappeared into the grass. Though the sighting only lasted for a few moments, it was magical. It was common to see silence as everyone in the gypsy absorbed this experience.

It was for the first time in my life that I saw a tiger in [**Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary**](https://dudhwa-national-park.in/about-kishanpur-wildlife-sanctuary.php) and my perception about wildlife and natural environment completely changed. Seeing a Tiger was not the point, it was experiencing the wild in its purest form. It was a moment that was going to be indelible because of the calmness in the forest, the beauty of the nature and the raw excitement.

Whenever I think of wildlife travel, my first glimpses of a tiger in the tranquil forests of Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary is one of my most memorable experiences.
