I'm sorry, and we all need to do better

Discussion

So my understanding at this point is that what may have happened is a transgendered student went on a date and may have been killed by their date now once again who knows how much of this is false information or whatever but whatever the fact that people are celebrating it is disgusting.

What's even more terrifying is that this is happening in Seattle but here's the thing I lived in Seattle for a year and it's not the liberal City I expected it's not Portland. People think Seattle is extremely liberal but it's not the reality is it's filled with a ton of f*** ups from Tacoma that moved up here because they were bored and Tacoma is filled with some deep f*** ups. I've met so many crazy conservatives that dress like liberals like they'll dress in Goth clothes and stuff but they're f****** conservative Trump supporters I'm sorry that Seattle's not the liberal Utopia I was expecting that's for sure it's different.

First of all the age of consent in Washington is 16 and so until covid happened there were a ton of clubs that the entry age was 16, one of the things that has caught me off guard about Seattle is all the f****** teenagers that are going to adult parties and trying to hook up with older people..

The next thing is how incredibly unfriendly people are in seattle.

I never expected people in Seattle to be so incredibly unfriendly I spent a year there and I made no friends absolutely no friends.

Everyone I met would take down my contact information and would say let's hang out and we would never see each other again unless I went to the cafe that they worked out or something like that.

But overwhelmingly people are not friendly Seattle kind of sucks.

I really feel like the combination of poverty and immense vitamin D deficiency drives people in Seattle insane.

I think that whatever happened is an indication of the difficulties of Seattle that are often not talked about.

The ignorance, the poverty, the deep mental problems and depression from the lack of sunlight.

I hope that this death is a wake up call to the community to address these things, they can all be dealt with, community potlucks and community events that force people to get out of their homes and meet other people would be great, there's a couple of communities in Seattle that do this but it's only for a couple months because for the most part people in Seattle do not want to leave their houses like you have maybe 3 months of activities and the town goes quiet again.

I don't blame people it's wet and rainy outside it sucks.

But still something has to be done to build community and to introduce people to each other.

Second of all ignorance. I was horribly surprised by the sheer number of homophobes and anti LGBT people I met in the rave scene.

While the Rave scene has been pushing back they're just is far too much ignorance and idiocy.

Seattle seems to be the place where people who weren't liberal enough to be in Portland come to Fester basically they're not quite as ghettos Tacoma but they're not quite as liberal as Portland so they come to seattle.

I don't know how you fix ignorance without community I think truly just meeting people that are different than you is the way to fix this. The LGBT community unfortunately needs to start doing outreach in this city. There are pockets that are LGBT friendly but they need to start being more aggressive in their community engagement because Seattle should be a safe place for everybody but that only happens when people know deep in their hearts that we all are human and learn to love each other.

Lastly the vitamin f****** D I'm going to tell you right now I survived big dark one time and I decided to get the hell out of Seattle and drop out of udub.

I'm not saying you should drop out but what I am saying is I was literally suicidal during big dark. And then somebody just asked me a simple question, are you taking your vitamin d?

I started mega dosing and within a couple weeks I was feeling a lot better but still as somebody who came from sunny California I had never experienced anything like big dark in my entire life I can't help to think that this death might have been the result of the immense mental health issues that are a side effect of big dark something that truly only a vampire would love the rest of us are just waiting for it to end.

The city needs more health clinics to test people for vitamin D deficiencies but also just come to for mental health evaluations.

This was essentially my summary of life in Seattle after a year and a half I finally understood the Marcy playground song the shadow of Seattle.

Much love to everyone we need to have vigils we need to have deep conversations we need to heal and we need to have outreach.

Everyone deserves to be safe everyone deserves to be loved.

Live long and prosper πŸ––πŸ––πŸ––
