The Bills home opener is a nice circle of history

The Bills opening against the Lions is actually a really cool aspect (Thursday night game aside).

As some may know Ralph Wilson was a Native of Michigan and at one point was a minority team owner of the Detroit Lions. Ralph wanted a bigger stake in the Lions which he was denied, so he decided to hop on the up and coming league the AFL, becoming a founding member and leading to the creation of the Buffalo Bills as a football franchise. The first few seasons of the Bills used uniforms almost identical to the Lions as well. Fittingly enough the last game under the ownership of the Wilson's was against the Lions.

So we can thank the Lions for the Bills existing since they wouldn't let Ralph become a bigger part of their franchise. Hopefully we fully thank them by beating the brakes off then week 2 in the new stadium.
