Confused and bummed out by Matchmaking

What the hell is going on with this MMR system? I've been playing for a few weeks and I'm low Seeker, trying to improve, but I have some just insanely unfun matches, then I go and check tracklock for the 32-1-15 Celeste and they're mostly playing Ritualist games? Why the fuck am I getting paired up against people that far above my skill bracket? How can I consistently win with that kind of disparity..

Is there anything I can do to change the quality of my matches? Settings? Anything?

Sorry I am sure this is probably a common topic but I am seriously demoralised.
