What happens if the TARRAN L1 battery runs out completely?

Hi all, we’ve been asked quite a few times: “What happens if the TARRAN L1 battery runs out completely?”

While it’s a low-probability scenario, it’s still something we spent a lot of time thinking about when designing the L1.

Here’s how we prepared for those “just in case” moments:

First of all, even if the main battery is fully depleted, the L1 can still be ridden like a regular bicycle — just without electric assistance.

However, powered features such as the display and navigation system will become unavailable once the battery is empty.

Beyond that, we also built in several backup solutions:

 Backup Emergency Power

Even if the main battery is empty or removed, the built-in backup battery can still power GPS, 4G, buzzer, and anti-theft & tracking features for up to 2 weeks — helping you locate and recover your bike if needed.

 Emergency E-kickstand Operation

Even at critically low battery levels, the SyncStand e-kickstand can still operate up to 10 times, preventing situations where the kickstand gets stuck and affects riding.

 Charging & Fast Charging Options

If the bike has been parked for a long time and the battery is fully drained, around 5 minutes of charging is enough to power the bike back on and restore basic kickstand functionality for temporary use.

For riders who want even faster charging, we also offer an optional GaN Fast Charger:

 1 hour up to 50%

 1.5 hours up to 80%

Giving you both emergency recovery and faster daily charging when needed.

At TARRAN, we know real-world riding comes with unexpected situations. That’s why we try to think beyond everyday use cases — and design for the rare moments too.
