Sickness - Would you consider this an inappropriate request?

I text my boss to say I won't be in today because I have a bad cold. My boss text to say that's fine and wished me well, then an hour later to say this.

Would you consider this inappropriate? I don't think it's terrible and I could probably say no if I feel rough, but a friend said this was a bit cheeky of my boss and I should say it's not right for him to ask.
