Requesting genuine criticism and ideas
**Know your Candidate System**
Board 0
I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I’m considering eventually turning this into a proper public petition, but right now this is still in the discussion/idea stage and I genuinely want criticism and suggestions before taking it further.
Before we start, I don’t belong to any political party and I neither blindly support nor blindly hate any party or leade
India has one of the most politically active populations in India, especially right now .But despite that, many elections still end up revolving around party loyalty, leader worship, cinema influence, caste equations, propaganda, and emotional narratives more than actual governance records and accountability.
So I was thinking about something called the “Know Your Candidate System.”
What if every election candidate had a mandatory public transparency profile before elections?
Not some “score” deciding whether a candidate is good or bad, but a standardized public information sheet/card that any voter can easily access online or even receive physically during campaigning.
The idea is simple: before asking for votes, every candidate should openly present verified public information such as
criminal cases and their status
attendance in Assembly/Parliament
asset growth over time
constituency fund usage
promises made vs fulfilled
voting record on major bills
educational/professional background
debate participation
In one systematically.approved and verified card
Basically making political information easier to access and compare for ordinary voters instead of forcing people to dig through affidavits, random articles, party pages, and propaganda channels.
One major issue I already see is manipulation.
If the government fully controls the system, it can easily become propaganda. So maybe the solution is:
no single “score” system
only raw verified public data
independent verification involving ECI, RTI activists, auditors, media, etc
publicly visible methodology and source links
identical standards for every party and candidate
The goal is NOT: “tell people who to vote for.”
The goal is: “make political information transparent and easy to access before voting.”
I know this idea has flaws, which is exactly why I’m posting this before trying to make it into an actual petition.
So I genuinely want honest opinions what should I add/remove what about the methodology is petition the right way? Please do share your opinions
