What do you do for work?

Admin, School, Career

I'm currently unemployed and feeling a bit lost, so I'm hoping this community can help point me in the right direction.

I'm 30 years old with no formal qualifications. I did 4 years of university and came out without a degree because I couldn't finish the work, and the same thing happened with exams in school. If only I knew I had ADHD then, I could have got the support I needed. I've since run various small businesses with my partner, including an Etsy shop, an small music record label, and most recently an antiques buying and selling venture. I have real skills in design, physical product creation, and independent music, but nothing traditional on paper.

I'm not a self starter, as much as I want to be. When my partner is around I can get going, but alone I really struggle. Plus, I just don't have the space in my apartment to run a small business anymore. My previous employment has mostly been customer service and phone work, and I just don't want to go back to that. It's draining in a way that's hard to explain.

I struggle with motivation, task initiation, overwhelm, hyperfocus, and social anxiety. I don't think a traditional 9-5 office environment would be healthy for me, and I'm looking for something that works with my brain rather than against it.

My question is simple: what do you do for work?
