What is it with all the Americans here LARPing being Londoners?

I keep seeing a lot of comments here from self-proclaimed *born and bred Londoners* that are clearly not from here/ American (referring to the City as *downtown London*, making up bizarre stories about stopping fare dodgers on the tube but not understanding how the barriers or tube doors work, claiming they see people with guns constantly, etc. and being a mod of another subreddit, I can see summaries for some accounts and can see that they're based in the US)

What is the point? I would understand it in the propaganda driven r/United Kingdom but r/London is mainly tourists/ daily life posts, no?
