Bradley on a budget and embracing frugality

Discussion

Do you guys know about Bradley on a budget on TikTok and his unique money saving hacks ama uko tu? In an age where overconsumption is basically becoming the new norm and people are busy filling their houses and lives with unnecessary items and spending more than they earn just to impress strangers, what are some "unique ama special" ways that you personally save money in your life?

For my savings goal this year I'm slowly building a one year emergency buffer that I can comfortably live on in case something happens and so I decided to cut back on things that are not absolutely necessary so that I can achieve this goal quicker

And so that's why these days, I don't splurge on tissues, I buy the cheapest cause it's gonna get flashed away anyways.

My fridge temp is set to 1 and it still works just as well and my tokens last for weeks

My TV is set to energy saving and one time I had it on the whole day to see if it made a difference and no tokens were spent, plus the viewing experience is the same

I live alone so I don't mind having the same thing for breakfast every morning (that I meal prep once a week on Sundays), loaded githeri, an orange and ginger tea

I put the exact amount of money I pay for rent, into my savings... If I can't do that, I know I'm living in a place I can't afford to be at

I don't buy new clothes, I just "shop my closet"

If I feel like I need to buy something, I'll first check around my house for items that can do the same thing and nikikosa, I'll put it in my wishlist for a month... If I don't need it after a month, I never needed it to begin with

I've never and will never buy fruits, vegetables and meat products from a supermarket, Saturday morning, naamkia soko.

I always grate those tiny little left over bars of soaps into my laundry powder instead of throwing them away
