I started 6 days ago...and felt absolutely horrendous
Update to my initial post here. I posted about a week ago that I was prescribed 25 mg Zoloft. I've been very hesitant to start SSRIs as I genuinely questioned whether it was for me. I think I have ADHD/GAD, but it's hard to get diagnosed for ADHD as an adult, unless I go to a private clinic and pay out of pocket (which I'm considering doing at this point).
I took it in the morning for the first 4 or so days, then tried nighttime dosing for a few days and felt absolutely horrendous. I felt so flat and numb, my drive and motivation to do anything fell off a cliff. I couldn't even get myself to shower in the mornings (which has literally never happened to me in my life), and I couldn't even focus on work or do anything to the point where I was considering medical leave.
I booked an appoint with my physician for tomorrow, and discussed with a close friend who is in internal medicine, and decided to stop yesterday. I already feel a bit clearer mentally today and was able to shower and do work in the morning.
I know SSRIs take time to work, but even these first 6 days were so bad that it affection by daily function and mood so much. I literally just wanted to lay around and bed rot. I know and believe sertraline/zoloft has worked wonders for many of you, so I'm by no means shitting on the medication. I work in healthcare and have done my research on these class of products, and I know that different SSRIs have different effects on people.
I just wanted to share my experience and see if others have run into this as well. I cut out weed (which I was smoking every day (multiple times) for the last 10 years, and I feel like that alone has improved my baseline anxiety so much and removed some of my panic triggers.
