combined reduced listings for previous restoration projects, feel free to dm with questions. Working through quite a few of backlogged pens from late 2025, so won't be taking on any custom restoration works yet, hope to open some slots in early July/Aug.

10 and 11 are incredible pens, and prices will be firm, unlikely you will find similar writing pens with these hairlines. the shape of the nib on #11 is incredible.

βš–οΈ Weight: 19.8g capped, 12.0g uncapped
πŸ“’ History/Provenance

HM1225051 The Radius clip, smooth rounded clip without a hump or a clip-ball end, was introduced in 1935 which gives us a production date range to the early 1940's. Additionally, earlier Balance models did not have a transparent ink window in the grip section made from clear celluloid nitrate. Over time transparent celluloid naturally yellows as the fibers oxidize, uncommon to see no crazing in the material. Ink stains have been enzymatically removed, without ammonia/bleach/abrasives to preserve celluloid integrity and thickness.

In 1924, Sheaffer marketed the "White Dot" on its top of the line pens, and represented an unconditional lifetime guarantee/warranty on the pen. Similarly this marketing extended to the nibs used in said pens with the stamping of "LIFETIME" rather than any other indicators of quality (i.e. purity of the gold alloy used 14k).

The Oversized Balance is probably one of the more famous vintage pens ever for it's consistent durability and proven track record as an extremely comfortable everyday writer for fast writing and drying even on carbon copy paper.

Extremely smooth great daily writer with very well regulated ink flow through its ebonite comb feed.

Hallmark imprints are extremely crisp and clear. Pen fully disassembled and cleaned throughly with special care taken to restore clarity of celluloid nitrate grip section for clear ink window transparency. Black celluloid nitrate hand polished, and coated with carnauba wax for UV and moisture protection. Some microscratches on the clip, with brassing/plating-loss around the cap band. Nib heat set and tuned for smoothness

πŸ“’ History/Provenance

HM1225015 Mabie Todd's "Swan Self-Filling Pen" (Lever-Filler) was first introduced in 1920 as a patented "self-locking lever" to prevent accidents where the lever arm catches onto the liner of your pockets. This engine turned gold-filled overlay in a waves pattern is one of the earlier lever fillers from MTB's NY production at the peak of the it's popularity before production all migrated to the Britain. Personalized with the name ALBERTO.

Beautifully smooth oblique broad nib with a linear snappy flex profile. Amazing writer at multiple angles for immense writing variation. Tested on Rhodia 80gsm A5 pad with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black ink

Imprints are extremely crisp and clear. Plating loss on the grip section, likely due to prolonged ink submersion. Some brassing to the clip-ball, cap and rear finial with some scratches and dents. Nib heat set and tuned for smoothness.

βš–οΈ Weight: 15.3g capped, 11.0g uncapped
πŸ“’ History/Provenance

HM1225025 UNIC was a French fountain pen maker founded in 1919 (Kothe & Vannier), famous for their incredibly high quality vermeil and gold overlay fountain pens. They also had a subbrand called "Omnia" which was associated with some of their more budget offerings.

Beautiful mottled ebonite overlayed with a gold-plated metal overlay in the distinct checkerboard pattern. The pen comes with an incredibly intricate guillochΓ© waves pattern overlayed pencil, with a hallmarks on both the pen and pencil that may imply a solid gold overlay but unconfirmed without other markings.

Extremely precise and responsive nib that is a very fun daily driver. Writes like a soft manifold with the option to flex, a bit of feedback similar to what I would feel from modern Sailor pens, can be smoothed down if preferred. Tested on Rhodia 80gsm A5 pad and Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue.

Gold-filled overlay is in extremely clean condition with no dents or scratches. Ebonite rejuvenated and overlay lightly hand polished, "softness" of ebonite restored. Nib heat set and tuned for flex/smoothness.

4. Waterman's Patrician Nacre Pencil

πŸ’° Price: $225 $250 OBO

πŸ₯‡ Condition: NOS A
πŸ“ Dimensions: 136.69mm long, 10.56mm diameter
βš–οΈ Weight: 18.5g without extra lead
πŸ“’ History/Provenance

HM1225019 Extremely beautiful and rare Nacre (black and pearl) pencil in mint condition (including original eraser), especially early version with ebonite grip section and eraser finial. This full celluloid barrel differs from the later versions with a silver chrome trim in the midsection. Waterman's Patrician line up was introduced in 1929 as the flagship pen until 1939.

Celluloid Nitrate has been preserved beautifully as a new old stock pencil. Includes a full refill of 1.1mm vintage NOS Waterman lead refills. Ebonite grip section rejuvenated and lightly polished, "softness" of ebonite restored.

5. Penco 53(B), Gold Filled Cap & Black Celluloid, 14ct Bouncy Nib

πŸ’° Price: $125 $250 OBO

πŸ₯‡ Grade: B-
πŸ”± Nib: Penco Manufacturers 585
πŸ–‹οΈ Line Spec: F | 0.35mm
🌑️ Flexibility Pressure: Bouncy not flex
β›½ Filling Type: Touchdown Pneumatic, Latex Sac
πŸ“ Dimensions: 138.78mm capped / 116.84mm uncapped / 10.31mm grip section
βš–οΈ Weight: 18.626g capped / 9.168g uncapped

HM2602015 The PenCo 53 was the top model from Fratelli Rossi Vicenza, widely publicized across Italian magazines β€” and a close enough imitation of Sheaffer's Triumph line to provoke legal action from Sheaffer's Italian distributor. This extremely rare 53B updated the design with a Touchdown filling mechanism using a naked sac rather than one encased in a steel casing. FRV closed on March 30, 1957, making these increasingly scarce outside Italian collections.

Touchdown filling system in mint condition β€” fills a great amount of ink. The build quality and mechanism feel more solid than many Sheaffer's, there's no wiggle in the piston rod. Fills on the downstroke; the upstroke releases the sac full of ink, so be careful not to make a mess. Full disassembly with lubricated pneumatic piston rebuild. Nib tuned and smoothed. Celluloid treated and refinished. Approximately 2 hours hands-on. Finished with carnauba wax coat. Writes wet and consistent with zero hard starts after overnight capping.

Celluloid has been lightly hand-polished to remove microscratches. Deeper scratches left intact to preserve original material. Imprints are worn but legible, with gold filled cap in honest condition β€” left unpolished to prevent brassing. Nib tuned for smoothness.

Tested on Rhodia 90gsm with Diamine Imperial Purple.

* discovered a hairline on the breather hole and discounted substantially, does not impact performance or deteriorate since the nib material is very thick.

6. J.B. Lucien Safety Pen, French Mottled Ebonite, 14k Gold Semi-Flex Nib

πŸ’° Price: $325 $350 OBO

πŸ₯‡ Grade: B-
πŸ”± Nib: Eversharp 14k 0.585 Flexible Made in England
πŸ–‹οΈ Line Spec: F - 4B | 0.25mm - 1.45mm (5.8x)
🌑️ Flexibility Pressure: 410g Semi Flex
β›½ Filling Type: Safety
πŸ“ Dimensions: 120.64mm capped, 128.23mm uncapped, 10.29mm grip (section)
βš–οΈ Weight: 17.682g capped, 13.265g uncapped

HM2602014 A fantastic example of French mottled ebonite β€” the orange-red and black layers produce incredibly playful patterns that run deeper and brighter than their American counterparts, mainly due to formulation differences. Matching mottled ebonite feed, a detail usually reserved for premium model lineups given the extra material cost. Waterman-style rear-pinned safety mechanism. Small maker or promotional pen produced by a larger French house. J.B. Luciens, 33 Rue des Acacias, Paris.

Full safety mechanism rebuild with fresh gaskets that will last decades. Safety pens are easy to clean and can handle any ink types that would otherwise trouble vintage and modern pens β€” just flush with a pipette (can be included upon request). Approximately 3 hours hands-on. Ebonite rejuvenated and lightly hand-polished β€” the natural softness restored. Will not feel brittle or prone to cracking. Clip is worn and barrel imprint is weak. Finished with carnauba to protect the ebonite finish; can be re-polished to a shine with soft fabric.

Replacement Wahl Eversharp flexible nib that writes very well. Not the most line variation given that it's a semi-flex, but a very rare and interesting posting-style nib grind that gives amazingly thin and consistent lines. Smooth on all angles. Identifiable as a replacement nib because French pens from this era almost universally carry 18ct nibs unless exported β€” unlikely here. Nib heat-set and tuned for flex and smoothness. Tested on Rhodia 90gsm with Diamine Imperial Purple.

7. German Safety, Mottled Ebonite GPT Clip, 14ct Flex Nib

πŸ’° Price: $500 or best offer
πŸ₯‡ Grade: B-, like new with small scratch on cap finial
πŸ”± Nib: Warranted 14cts 585
πŸ–‹οΈ Line Spec: F/FM – 3B | 0.35mm V / 0.50mm H – 1.40mm (4.00x)
🌑️ Flexibility Pressure: 300g Super Flex
β›½ Filling Type: Safety
πŸ“ Dimensions: 115.31mm capped, 157.68mm posted, 117.58mm uncapped, 10.45mm grip (section)
βš–οΈ Weight: 19.092g capped, 10.4883g uncapped

HM1225095
The flagship of this batch. Montblanc-style safety mechanism and overall design language, with a rare art nouveau clip that immediately sets it apart from the dozens of generic German safeties on the market. Unbranded German safeties from this era are built to an engineering standard that rivaled the American Big Four.

Mottled ebonite body with gold-plated trim clip in B- condition β€” like new aside from a small scratch on the cap finial. The pen caps and posts securely, and at 157mm posted it's a perfect size for travel journaling. Substantial in the hand at 19g capped without being heavy.

The 14ct warranted flex nib has a Sailor-like feedback β€” you feel the paper, you know where the nib is. 4.00x line variation at 300g Super Flex with a natural cursive italic character: 0.35mm vertical hairlines and 0.50mm horizontal crossstrokes that widen into a full 1.40mm on the downstroke. The tipping can be polished smoother if you prefer a glassier ride, but the feedback as-is gives you excellent control through flourishes. Nib heat-set and tuned for flex and smoothness.

Full safety mechanism rebuilt with fresh gaskets. Ebonite rejuvenated and hand-polished.

Tested on Rhodia 90gsm with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black.

8. Waterman's 0742 1/2 V, Black Ebonite Filigree Band, 14k Flex Nib

πŸ’° Price: $225 or best offer
πŸ₯‡ Grade: C+, turning knob crack has been sealed
πŸ”± Nib: Waterman's Ideal Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. 2
πŸ–‹οΈ Line Spec: EF/EEF – 3B | 0.25mm V / 0.15mm H – 1.27mm (8.47x)
🌑️ Flexibility Pressure: 280g Semi Brush
β›½ Filling Type: Safety
πŸ“ Dimensions: 88.17mm capped, 118.26mm posted, 95.12mm uncapped, 8.53mm grip (section)
βš–οΈ Weight: 8.476g capped, 6.890g uncapped

HM1225034
Waterman's 0742 1/2 V β€” the "baby" safety in its dressed-up configuration. The model number tells the full story: "07" for the gold barrel band, "4" for the safety mechanism, "2" for the #2 nib size, "1/2" for the slender barrel, and "V" for the shorter vest-pocket length. Baby-sized at 88mm capped, but posts to a regular writing length at 118mm.

The filigree band is the standout β€” set against the black ebonite, it gives the pen a restrained elegance the plain chased version can't match. Great ebonite condition with some wear to the chasing, but extremely crisp imprints. The turning knob had a crack that has been sealed β€” the repair does not impact the airtight seal or the mechanism's function. Graded C+ for the repair.

The nib is the real story. This Waterman Ideal #2 is a needlepoint flex with a slight cursive italic grind β€” 0.15mm horizontal hairlines that open to a full 1.27mm on the downstroke. That's 8.47x line variation at only 280g Semi Brush Flex. Fantastic flex nib by any standard. Nib heat-set and tuned for flex and smoothness.

Full safety mechanism rebuilt with fresh gaskets.

Tested on Rhodia 90gsm with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black.

9. Waterman's 42 1/2 V, Black Ebonite Chased, 14k Flex Nib

πŸ’° Price: $225 or best offer
πŸ₯‡ Grade: B+, mint NOS
πŸ”± Nib: Waterman's Ideal Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. 2
πŸ–‹οΈ Line Spec: F/EF – 3B | 0.40mm V / 0.20mm H – 1.39mm (6.95x)
🌑️ Flexibility Pressure: 280g Semi Brush
β›½ Filling Type: Safety
πŸ“ Dimensions: 89.26mm capped, 117.08mm posted, 94.14mm uncapped, 8.52mm grip (section)
βš–οΈ Weight: 7.936g capped, 6.340g uncapped

HM1225033
The no-frills sibling of the filigree-banded 0742 above β€” same baby safety platform, same #2 Waterman Ideal nib, same vest-pocket proportions, but in black chased hard rubber without the metalwork. And this one is mint NOS. The chasing is crisp throughout, cap imprints are sharp with a date stamp, and the only wear is slight softening to the center of the hallmark imprint. This pen has barely been touched.

Same baby-size formula: 89mm capped, posts to 117mm for a full writing length. The beauty of the safety mechanism is that the nib retracts completely into the barrel, sealing the ink chamber β€” no dry starts, no ink on your fingers.

The Waterman Ideal #2 nib delivers 6.95x line variation at 280g Semi Brush Flex β€” 0.20mm horizontal hairlines opening to 1.39mm downstrokes. Slightly broader hairlines than the filigree-banded sibling, slightly more line variation on the swell. Both are excellent; this one leans a touch more expressive, the 0742 leans more precise. Nib heat-set and tuned for flex and smoothness.

Full safety mechanism rebuilt with fresh gaskets.

Tested on Rhodia 90gsm with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black.

10. Wahl Eversharp Signature Gold Seal, Lazulitic Blue GPT, #5 Semi-Noodle Nib

πŸ’° Price: $875
πŸ₯‡ Grade: B
πŸ”± Nib: Eversharp Gold Seal Made in USA Flexible
πŸ–‹οΈ Line Spec: EF - 5B (0.15-1.74mm, 11.6x)
🌑️ Flexibility Pressure: 260g Semi Brush Flex
β›½ Filling Type: Lever-Filler
πŸ“ Dimensions:132.15mm capped, 123.82mm uncapped, 9.35mm grip (section)
βš–οΈ Weight: 17.7g capped, 10.6g uncapped

HM1225021 An incredibly beautiful Lazulitic Blue Gold Seal Wahl Signature pen in full size with an early production 1927-1928 ball clip. In the exceptionally popular and beautiful lazulitic blue colorway, which found popularity across many of the the top pen manufacturers with slight variations especially with the addition of white celluloid, but Wahl kept their blue celluloid a pure mix of light and dark blues, similar to Mabie Todd Swan's xylonite.

A holy grail of a size 5 noodle nib with dreamy hairlines and extremely well control snapback and ink flow control. Performance of a Waterman 7 Pink nib for half the price and in an incredible celluloid nitrate colorway. Super hairline nibs like these that can also flex very wide tend to favor more saturated inks with high flow.

Celluloid Nitrate has been lightly hand-polished to get rid of microscratches but deeper scratches are not polished down to preserve as much of the material as possible. Ebonite grip section rejuvenated and lightly polished, "softness" of ebonite restored. Fitted with a latex sac, nib heat set and tune

11. Swan 4460 (1060) Torpedo, #4 Gold Artist, Black Celluloid, 3-band Gold Trim

πŸ’° Price: $800
πŸ₯‡ Grade: B+ Mint Vintage Restored
✨ Carnauba Waxed
πŸ”± Nib: Swan #4 K 14C-585 Mabie Todd Co LTD. Made in England
πŸ–‹οΈ Line Spec: EF - 6B | 0.25mm - 2.00mm (8.0x)
🌑️ Flexibility Pressure: 320g Super Flex
β›½ Filling Type: "Leverless" Twist-Filler
πŸ“ Dimensions: 136.3mm capped, 123.5mm uncapped, 9.36mm grip (section)
βš–οΈ Weight: 16.6g capped, 10.9g uncapped

HM1225004 An extremely rare and interesting pen for anyone appreciating a story to come with the pen. This 4460 has a faded 1060 imprint right next to the 4460 imprint. This 4-leverless, 4-sized nib, 60-black xylonite Swan is one of the largest of the flexible nibbed swans of the time as #6 nibs were generally equipped with Eternal (manifold rigid) nibs to better compete with the growing competition by Miles Martin Pen Co's Biro Ballpoint pens. The beginning of the end of the days of flexy goodness. PAT No. 390585, Type B Imprint 1949 Production year (restamped), likely even 1948 as a prototype model that someone decided must fit in the mold of the new modeling system. The "K" imprint on the nib I couldn't figure out what it represented so if anyone has guesses or leads would be nice! Usually the "C" imprint was for Calligraphy pens which were made shortly after in 1953, but haven't found any documentation yet on the K imprint.

Another very long tined artist nib, but this one has a little bit less snapback, still wonderful given it has even longer tines (which is the usual tradeoff for legnth vs snapback), maximum tine flex reaches a very nice 2.00mm but a significantly thinner line with no pressure at 0.25mm well within the EF cutoff, thus the actual line variation (8x) is more significant than even prior artist nib with the crazier 2.81mm max spread. Largely a personal preference sort of decision. Intermediate to advanced calligraphers, very little feedback, but the longer tines are not beginner friendly, but will be super friendly to make crazy hairlines, 0.25 is for regular writing, you can easily get thinner hair lines if you feather up and side strokes when flourishing. This is the budget (1/2 the price) Waterman Pink nib to be frank, I added a writing sample comparison in the gallery as well. This will sport a much bigger grip section as well compared with a Waterman 7 Pink's 8.67mm grip.

Mint including the factory "1060" hidden imprint
