I’ve always been curious about high-end audiophile gear — open-back headphones, studio monitors, premium DACs and amps — but the prices always kept me at a distance. For a long time, I made do with what I had: Nothing earbuds, which sounded decent for their price, and AirPods Pro 2, which are a step up and genuinely worth it for the convenience they offer.
Things started to change when I picked up the Edifier MR4 monitors. Paired with the Audiocular D10 DAC and Apple Music Lossless, they opened my ears to what “clear and detailed” actually sounds like. Then came the Truthear Gate for gaming on my Xbox — great clarity, impressive vocal presence, and solid instrument separation, though the lack of bass made it feel a little flat for AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and for classic songs that need that warmth and punch.
Then I made an impulsive open-box purchase: the Moondrop Kadenza at around ₹13,000. And the moment I put them on — holy moly. Vocals felt like they were right beside my ear. Every instrument had its own space. Listening to A.R. Rahman, Lata Mangeshkar, and KK, I genuinely felt emotional — not just hearing the music, but feeling it. It was my first real Hi-Fi experience, and I realized I had been missing so much all along.
I then swapped the stock cable for the NiceHCK Snowcat and replaced the stock tips with Final Type E. The difference was immediately noticeable — the cable looks and feels so much better, incredibly soft and premium. The Type E tips fit perfectly, tightening up the seal and bringing noticeably punchier bass, while also reining in some of the brightness just enough to make the sound even more refined and balanced.
