My Trip to Disney.

Body Horror

Warning: Blood and mutilation
————————-

The seatbelt was too tight.
Not enough leg room.
The window is to hot.
The a/c isn’t working in this part of the car
I feel really car sick.

We were almost done with the drive to Disney-world. We had gotten passes for the parks as an attempt to keep up our spirits. Mom said whenever the family wanted to have a nice time out- we can take the drive. Just my mom, dad, my two brothers and my girlfriend who had recently moved in with us. She felt like Hopefully it would make us feel like a complete family. It rarely worked. It hasn’t been the same since mom got sick. Everyone felt it. Like an unspoken emotion clung onto to every conversation. It was in the air.

My girlfriend stared down at her phone, I tried to hold her hand, but she moved her hand to her phone-losing herself to the video she was heavily invested in. My two brothers in the middle seats were fighting- it’s hard to stay still when the a/c isn’t working and there’s only one fan from Walgreens sitting on the dashboard slowly swaying between the seats.

“Road work ahead.” So many signs bright and orange laying in the broken grass where tons of machinery were working away at expanding the highway. Everytime we took the turnpike as soon as we got closer to Orlando there was nothing but miles and miles of construction.

I always felt lucky that we lived so close to Orlando, only 1.30 hours to get to places some family’s spend their entire life saving up and taking their kids to the most magical place on earth or universal or.. whatever theme park is on the list. We’ve been to them, too many times to count.

“I’m hungry…” my little brother cried out almost ten minutes after devouring a kids meal from McDonald’s.

“Stop it, you’ve had enough…” my dad snapped at him.

“Guys!! Look.” My mom yelled out cutting my dad off.

Up ahead was the big sign with Mickey by its side. We all watched as we drove past, my mom pulling out her phone to take a picture but alittle to quickly as she dropped the phone missing the shot. “No!”

My dad rolling his eyes. “It’s fine.. we can take it again tomorrow…” trying to stop the outburst before it started. He loved my mom. I know that for sure. But it’s like they aren’t on the same team. Whatever spark they had was gone long ago.

“Whatever, you’re only here because you’re not at work for once…” she said under her breath. My dad was a cop, long nights and long days. I think everything’s he’s done is one of the reasons he is the way he is.

The car was slient.

I feel carsick again.

It was alittle bit later after we parked and the long walk to the river boat that would take us from the port to the actual park

“The magic kingdom.!!” My mom started taking pictures over and over of the same sight she had probably seen a thousand times.

Me and my girlfriend held each other as we leaned against the rail of the boat. Watching the water. No fish. Dirty water. It was the first time I had felt that Today felt weird, everyone’s on edge, and the day seems gloomy even though the sun is in full force with the might of the Florida heat.

My brothers were sitting down on the ground on their phones. Playing whatever game they had begged my mom to buy them.

As we walked into the big train station front and passed though the walkways with different posters for the different attractions I heard the motor of a tiny cart with an overweight person riding it. The wheels danced over my toes. It hurt a lot. But by the time I could say something the speed racer was gone. I really was trying to enjoy the time I had with my family but things often felt different.

“What do you guys wanna ride first.” My girlfriend spoke for what felt like the first time today.

“Haunted mansion.!” I offered up. It was my favorite ride

“Thunder mountain!!” My mom said!

“Then we we hit pirates!!” My little brother said out

“Then lunch.” My younger brother exclaimed like he had discovered some cure for cancer. But he is always that outgoing

It seemed like we had a plan, lets hope things go out that way.

The smell of popcorn, cotton candy and turkey legs filled the air. Walking down mainstreet it was shop after shop after shop. Hundreds if not thousands of people filing in and out like ants in their mounds. Who knows how much money these people are willing to spend.

It was the middle of summer so it was packed. One of the busiest days of the year apparently. And you could really feel it.

We passed family after family towards New Orleans square, where the haunted mansion was. Waiting in the 2 hour line through the outside and winding up in the chamber with no windows and no doors. Or that’s what the narrator says.

It was dark and cold and the best ride at the park. The spooky parts going in odds against the upbeat happy parts of the second half. I could go on and on about it.

After the haunted mansion we made the walk towards pirates. After another wait and another ride.

It was about 12:50 and instead of heading towards Tommorrow land for lunch we were in the area of Frontierland and big thunder mountain was only a 30 minute wait so we decided to hit that instead. The heat was brutal, and the shaded interior was very helpful especially with the big metal fans blowing down to us. I felt it again then, that feeling deep in my gut that something was wrong. I couldn’t shake it, I held my girlfriend’s hand to kinda comfort me. She asked me what was wrong and I didn’t know hot to put it into words. The moment we got here I’d felt like I wasn’t supposed to be there. The happiest place on earth and here I was feeling like this was the worst possible time to be here.

We waited the thirty minutes and started the ride, the bumps and turns raising the hairs on my neck and arms. The faster we went the more this sinking feeling settled in. I wanted to throw up then and ther**e. We approached the tunnel. It was coming. Something was waiting for me in the tunnel. It was almost there I felt like screaming and then… BAM

I felt the splatter on my face, in my eyes, in my mouth, on my neck. And the feeling…. Like the climax of a horror movie. The jumpscare and the slime afterwards…

Then the screaming came. Everything was fuzzy. The ride screeched to a stop, my crotch felt wet. Drilling down my pants and into my socks and shoes. I remember the eyes… looking back at me. The decapitated head that sat on my lap pooling whatever blood or fluid that was gushing out. And in the cart infront of me the slouched body of a man his neck spraying blood like water. I felt cold though the blood was warm.

I was there for a while.. there were police, Ambulances…. People crowding around as they put a tarp over the body. There I was sitting down on the curb while the happy music of the most happiest place on earth looped and looped. Whatever my family was saying to me was drowned on. Even though it was later head was still there on my lap, it was talking to me. The moans and gasps of a head that wasn’t quite dead yet. If we hadn’t stop for the ride.. we would be enjoying a lovely lunch… but here I was sitting soaked in blood that wasn’t mine.

I saw Mickey Mouse .. he was around the corner trying to distract family’s from what had happened. That poor man or women… the only thing blocking kids from the worst possible thing they could see.

I’m cold. I feel sick. And I wanted to go home.

The seatbelt was too tight.
Not enough leg room.
The window is to hot.
The a/c isn’t working in this part of the car
I feel really car sick.

I feel sticky.. the blood won’t wash off. My stained clothes carry the memory of a single man. Someone from who knows who had to come to the ride the same time we did. Who chose to spend unknowingly his final day in the same place we chose. Of course it was me, why wouldn’t it be. I’ve been uncomfortable this whole time. Of course this would happen I know it would. That feeling stuck with me.

It’s been awhile since that trip. The only thing after that I can remember was the sign on the way out. And the announcer on the speaker wishing us a magical day. And that it was a great big beautiful tomorrow. To enjoy our day. And to come back soon. Mickey and his friends would love to have you back.

I still get that feeling in my stomach. Everyday.

People say it’s a myth. That no one has their head knocked off on that ride. But It happened. I still feel the twitching.. the sound of a groan. The eyes blinking at me. And the warmth of the blood in my lap. It happened. I know it did.. and no one can tell me otherwise
