Does it make sense to switch from Fujifilm to Canon?

Camera Buying Advice

I am a part time photographer that shoots both headshots and real estate as my paid work. For non-paid work, I am mostly taking photos of my kids and I really enjoy astrophotography from time to time.

That being said, I have been fully invested in the Fujifilm system for the last 10 years. I have a full assortment of fuji lenses that have served me well. Recently, I have been discouraged by ongoing issue with my XT5 when it comes to sharpness and editing the RAF files. Most recently, my RAF files were much softer than the JPEG files of the same shot. I know it could possibly be the editing software (Lightroom) but I’ve tried other software and I just don’t want to switch. (That’s not the discussion right now.)

I’ve found myself wondering if switching to the Canon system would be a better choice going forward. Particularly, the features of the Canon R8 should suit all my needs. The lenses would be much more expensive, but i could build my lens set over time.

What benefits would I get switching systems? I don’t care to discuss sensor size but I am aware that is a major point. My counter to that is that I’ve never felt that a larger sensor could have made a difference in my paid work.

I’m mostly interested in how HDR/bracketing and file editing would benefit by going to Canon. Would the lack of third party RF lenses be a drawback? What other considerations should I be thinking about?
