I just had to share! I’ve had this maybe 50g pond liner bucket thing in my backyard for years now. Whenever I trim the plants, I go and throw the trimmings in there so whatever snails they contain, don’t die. I am in South Florida so it stays warm pretty much year-round, a little too warm in the summertime. Anyway, recently, I discovered that some blackworms must have hitchhiked over too. The first few I found, I didn’t realize what they were… I knew they weren’t earthworms or anything, but too big to be blackworms. Then all of a sudden I realized what they were! The survivors who have been doing very well. This is one of those 32oz deli containers you get from restaurants to give an idea of size.

Now I’m going to start throwing the black worms in there after they’ve been in my fridge for a while. If I don’t use them up in a timely way, I think they probably end up suffering and not being as nutritious so I’m gonna let them grow out in the pond!

Unfortunately, getting them isn’t super easy as they love to rest in the muck at the bottom, but still cool.

I also have some kind of tiny Daphne out or something. And I recently introduced scuds so I have an additional feeder type for my pee puffers.

Gotta share my accidental blackworm culture !!
