Pionic patch, fertilizer or gloom sap?

Trying to figure which one is better to use. I figured using gloom sap for the greenthumb buff would be ideal, but I just used fertilizer for the first time and it seems like your yield over time might be about the same between using the two? Gloom sap gave me 5-6 pumpin seeds whereas fertilizer gave me 3, but in half the time.

Has anyone done more extensive testing? Probably doesn't matter that much at the end of the day, not sure there's a great need for min/maxing your crop yields.
