Solitaire with lots of special effects.

Turn one card at a time to play against rows of cards, whittle them either up or down (or both) until the stack is empty. But don’t dither, a boss is also playing a card that has a negative effect, from damage, to changing or adding cards, or even buffing/cursing cards forcing you to deal with them in some way (trim that beard!).

Meanwhile each card also has a color/symbol that will fill their corresponding gauges of your selected spells. So eventually you may earn enough points to do your own damage or card alterations depending one what you have loaded.

After each battle you get new offers at the shop and if you’ve earned enough gold (one of the card color/symbols) you can buy new more powerful spells or even items that can change cards.
It’s all very clear and simple, but offers enough as you go to make each run fast and addictive.

This review is cheating. If you’re even slightly interested in mobile gaming, or have a passing interest in Deck building card games, you’re probably already familiar with this one. It’s been around for a few ages now and is often invoked as an example of a “great deck builder.”
I’ll go a step further and say it’s a great game.
One of the best in fact, for how accessible it is to even the most casual or inexperienced player. It’s simple and intuitive and slick. It plays both strategically but is completely straightforward.

If you can count you can play this game.

But don’t get cocky just because you understand that the Ace plays on a 2 or a King, but because those bosses are gonna get harder and more complicated as you go changing the very rules of the game and turning cards akimbo.
And it’ll be spells and gear that are gonna make all the difference, so choose wisely, because bigger isn’t always better.

This is one of those games you will come back to over and over again for years. I boot it up for a few weeks at least once every year.
