I’m not crazy right… some robot vacuums definitely make allergies worse?"
I genuinely thought I was imagining this at first.
Small apartment, mostly rugs + hard floor mix, and every time my old robot vacuum finished a run the air somehow felt dustier. Not visibly dirty, just that dry throat / itchy eye feeling about 20 minutes later. I kept blaming pollen season until I stayed home one weekend and realized the timing lined up almost perfectly
Switched back to manual vacuuming for a bit and the symptoms calmed down. Then I started reading more about filtration, dust containment, brush design, all the stuff I completely ignored when I bought the first one.
Turns out some models are way better at actually trapping fine dust instead of kicking part of it back up during cleaning, especially in smaller apartments where everything is concentrated. I didn’t realize how much bad airflow + rugs + pet hair basically creates a tiny allergy chamber.
Now I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth buying in 2026 for allergy people living in apartments. Quiet matters. Good filtration matters. And honestly I care way more about “does the air feel cleaner after it runs” than maximum suction numbers at this point.
Apartment allergy people… what ended up working for you?
