Redundancy Update
I recently talked about being told I was at risk of redundancy.
I was told it’s just me and this was due to my role no longer being required and because the company wished to cut costs.
I raised a grievance outlining why I feel these reasons are false and that this seems to be a reaction to my health, disabilities and an ongoing contract conversations.
They have insisted it is the role and not the person they wish to eliminate.
They then sent me a job opening they felt I could consider applying for and it’s basically my current job with a different name, plus a requirement to travel more, which I can’t do due to my health and disabilities.
I replied to highlight this and say that clearly the workload and cost are not the issue if they are seeking someone with 5-10 years experience to do the things I do with the 11 years experience I have.
The spec is the role I do now. Plus some travelling I can’t do. So their issue must be my health and disabilities or this job ad wouldn’t exist.
They said they will look into this and get back to me.
I can’t fathom how we’ve got to this point. It seems incredibly irresponsible on their part, no? Is this normal?!
