Incomplete miscarriage day 19

I (38f) miscarried 19 days ago, and I was about 6.5 weeks at the time. This was the first time a pregnancy seemed to stick this long.

I had a US at 5.5 weeks where they only saw an empty sac, and nothing formed inside it yet. The tech said it's probably just too early for a fetal pole, etc. Then, a week later, I began bleeding heavily. We accepted the loss, and I experienced about 2 weeks of very heavy bleeding and cramping. The issue was that instead of it getting better, it got worse for a while, so I had to get another scan last week. That new scan showed a lot of thick lining still in the uterus and the same empty sac as well, even after weeks of bleeding.

I had about 4 or 5 days of light bleeding recently, so I had really thought it was all over. But it seems that isn't the case.

Anyway, I live in the southern US with very limited resources for obgyn care. I have had my Dr send a referral to see an obgyn about either taking a medicine to help pass the rest or getting a D&C. They are not responding very quickly ( I imagine they're very busy with actual pregnancies).

My concern and question is .. how long can I be in this state of naturally mircarrying? How long can an incomplete miscarriage last? Yesterday I passed a lot of thick blobs , and today it's very light again. I'm not suffering too much now aside from a headache (I'm anemic, so it happens with heavy periods). But I don't know what to do or what to ask for?
