Looking for feedback on data-driven player trade values & rankings
Hey all, I’m looking for feedback on a new fantasy football value system I’ve been working on.
The goal is to assign players a value based on the market data, as opposed to creating my own arbitrary rankings based on stat projections. Every player gets a Market Index value based on real signals in the data, then the rankings are split out by format. Doing it this way opens the door to being able to do things like trade evaluations, team insights, etc.
Ranking pages:
- Dynasty 1QB Rankings
- Dynasty Superflex Rankings
- Dynasty Rookie Rankings
- Redraft PPR Rankings
- Redraft Half PPR Rankings
- Redraft Standard Rankings
- Redraft Superflex (coming soon)
The rankings cover redraft, dynasty, 1QB, superflex, PPR, half PPR, standard scoring, rookies, and rookie picks. Obviously there are other formats than these, I'll probably expand to include some of the ones I'm missing like SF redraft or TE premium leagues.
Here’s an example from the current Dynasty 1QB PPR top 24:
| # | Player | Pos | Team | Age | Value | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bijan Robinson | RB | ATL | 24 | 10,000 | T1 |
| 2 | Ja'Marr Chase | WR | CIN | 26 | 9,399 | T2 |
| 3 | Jahmyr Gibbs | RB | DET | 24 | 8,882 | T2 |
| 4 | Puka Nacua | WR | LAR | 24 | 8,432 | T2 |
| 5 | Jaxon Smith-Njigba | WR | SEA | 24 | 8,036 | T2 |
| 6 | Josh Allen | QB | BUF | 29 | 7,683 | T2 |
| 7 | Amon-Ra St. Brown | WR | DET | 26 | 7,368 | T3 |
| 8 | Malik Nabers | WR | NYG | 22 | 7,083 | T3 |
| 9 | Drake Maye | QB | NE | 23 | 6,825 | T3 |
| 10 | Brock Bowers | TE | LV | 23 | 6,589 | T3 |
| 11 | Joe Burrow | QB | CIN | 29 | 6,373 | T3 |
| 12 | Trey McBride | TE | ARI | 26 | 6,174 | T3 |
| 13 | Justin Jefferson | WR | MIN | 26 | 5,990 | T3 |
| 14 | Ashton Jeanty | RB | LV | 22 | 5,819 | T3 |
| 15 | Jayden Daniels | QB | WAS | 25 | 5,661 | T4 |
| 16 | Jeremiyah Love | RB | ARI | 20 | 5,512 | T4 |
| 17 | Lamar Jackson | QB | BAL | 29 | 5,374 | T4 |
| 18 | CeeDee Lamb | WR | DAL | 27 | 5,243 | T4 |
| 19 | De'Von Achane | RB | MIA | 24 | 5,121 | T4 |
| 20 | Omarion Hampton | RB | LAC | 23 | 5,005 | T4 |
| 21 | Drake London | WR | ATL | 24 | 4,896 | T4 |
| 22 | Jonathan Taylor | RB | IND | 27 | 4,793 | T4 |
| 23 | Tetairoa McMillan | WR | CAR | 23 | 4,695 | T4 |
| 24 | Colston Loveland | TE | CHI | 22 | 4,602 | T4 |
A few things I’m trying to do differently:
The values are computed, not manually adjusted. ADP is the main market signal, and each format gets its own snapshot. So QBs jump in superflex, receptions matter more in PPR, and dynasty values are treated differently from redraft values.
The rankings update automatically. During the season, the underlying player values, tiers, and 7-day / 30-day trends refresh roughly every 6 hours. In the offseason, they refresh about once per day. Each page shows a “Last updated” timestamp for the actual market snapshot being used.
The tiers are based on value cliffs, not arbitrary cutoffs. The idea is to show where the market actually drops off, because that is usually more useful for drafts and trades than debating whether someone should be WR17 or WR18.
Rookie picks are valued on the same scale as players. So a 2026 1.05, a 2027 early 1st, and a veteran WR can all be compared in the same system.
I originally built this for LeagueLogs because the app uses the same value engine for trade analysis, league recaps, and roster breakdowns. But the ranking pages themselves are free and public. You do not need to connect a league or create an account to use them. I also have exposed this data in a free and public API for anyone that wants to access the data that way!
Would love feedback on whether the values and tiers pass the eye test.
What players look too high? What players look too low? Are the tier breaks useful, or would you want them displayed differently?
Thanks!
