I’m an idiot and can’t figure this out.

Okay everyone, I am not technologically advanced and I am very confused. I have been trying to figure out how to hook my Switch 2 to my Samsung curved monitor I use to game. I have read pretty much every article from “you need a capture card” to “you can just plug in the hdmi cable to your monitor like you do your tv.” For some reason my switch isn’t being recognized by the monitor. I’ve tried hdmi splitters and capture cards and it still won’t work. I’m using the original ac adapter and hdmi cord that came with the switch 2. My switch is saying “couldn’t connect to tv, make sure you’re using the correct ac adapter” and I am. Are there any suggestions? I just don’t know and I apologize for the long post I am just out of ideas.
