Seeking advice before the end of my world

🔮 App Review

Howdy y'all. I'm a long time lurker here, so I figured I'd finally toss a question into the mix. Several, actually, if the great oracle can bear it.

I'm planning to apply during the next cycle, which is to say beginning in May 2027. I'm presently as below:

GPA: 3.51, sgpa 3.46

MCAT: 509 (I need to retake anyway, as this score expires this year)

Approximately 3000 hours of clinical contact as a licensed paramedic with a critical care certificate working in a high volume metro area.

Approx 200 hours shadowing; 50 ICU, 100 ED, 20 FM, 30ish IM

Approx 2000 hours of non-clinical volunteer work with the Trinity area habitat for humanity (1200-odd hours) and Tarrant County Food Bank (800ish).

3000-odd professional and scholastic research hours in basic science labs studying diverse topics ranging from undergrad bacteriophage stuff to lysine histone demethylation in several colon cancers. I expect exceptional letters from PIs upon request.

Some extra bits and bobs: multilingual fluent in Spanish, French, and conversational in Arabic. I act in my vanishingly scarce free time, and I've been active in community theater for about 5 years. I helped design a food EMS response program for my hometown where we coordinated with TCFB to provide emergency food/nutrition to ultra low income rural individuals. I've published a few low impact gene announcements, four solid abstracts, and have been fortunate enough to attend and present at 4 conferences where I snagged some awards for best presentation. I've also got a lovely wife, two kiddos, and a five year service record with an honorable discharge courtesy of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children.

Here's the rub: I'm 32 years old and all of this is spread out over close to 7 years (from start of undergrad to present day). My question here y'all is this:

Can I reasonably expect success in our next application cycle? I know that's gonna be MCAT dependant, but can we assume I'll make roughly the same, or slightly better? And what do y'all think about post-bacc work? TCOM has a pretty attractive program.

Anywhoodles, let me know what y'all think. I look forward to reviewing your input.

Cheers.
