Pilot Custom 823

I see a lot of positive feedback regarding this pen and I am thinking about purchasing one as my one and only higher end pen. I prefer a fine line, but many times when I do Japanese EF, they provide too much feedback and/or are scratchy. For those who have a fine or extra fine, how is it the on the 823? I like it as fine as possible bit smoothness and reliability are more important.
