Reapplying for F1 after 214b
Okay so I really need some genuine feedback on my situation because I’ve been going back and forth on whether to reapply or not.
I’m a 22 year old Pakistani girl living in Saudi Arabia. I got rejected for an F1 visa about a year ago under 214b and also got rejected for a Canadian student visa. I know that looks bad but I think my situation has genuinely changed.
My first US rejection was honestly my own fault. My sponsor was my first cousin, I had literally just moved to Saudi Arabia two days before applying, and when the officer asked me why Texas I said it was because of the Muslim population there. I know. For Canada my dad was my sponsor but I only sent his bank statements and nothing else, no property documents, no business proof, nothing. Both times I was rushing and underprepared.
I completed my Associates in Psychology online through Dallas College in 2025. I got admitted to University of Dallas for my Bachelors and they gave me a merit scholarship and accepted most of my transfer credits. My academic counselor at Dallas College also recommended Texas universities specifically for credit transfer reasons so the Texas connection makes actual sense this time.
My dad is my sponsor now. He works in Saudi Arabia but also has his own registered business in Pakistan and he travels back every couple of months to manage it. We have two properties in Pakistan, one is rented out for monthly income and the other is our family home. My younger siblings are currently in Pakistan for their O and A level exams and my elder sister is a doctor doing her house job in Karachi. She actually has a US visa and went there twice for medical observerships and came back both times.
I also worked as a teacher’s assistant at a School while I was doing my Associates, so I have work experience in Pakistan too.
My moms siblings live in the US which I know doesn’t help, but I’ve already enrolled in UD dorms. My plan after graduating is to come back and work with mental health NGOs in Pakistan like Umang and Rozan. If the NGO path takes time I can also work at some school as a counselor in the meantime.
Oh and I also got admitted to a University here in Jeddah for a Psychology bridging program so I have a local backup if things don’t work out.
My actual questions are
Does my case sound strong enough to reapply or am I wasting my time and money?
Does having family in the US mean i have to mention it in my application or since it isn’t my direct family I don’t have to?
Should I apply from Jeddah where I currently live or go to Pakistan and apply from there?
Has anyone here with a similar background Pakistani, Saudi based, previous 214b actually gotten approved?
Is there anything obvious I’m missing that could strengthen my application?
I’ve been preparing really hard for this and I want to know where I actually stand.
