35M - Busy dad looking for actual conversation outside the chaos
Hey everyone. Apologies if this is long - it might be the first adult-level paragraph I've written in days that isn't work-related.
My life right now is basically a blur of kids' activities, sports schedules, school events, and trying to remember what day it is. I love my family, wouldn't trade it, but I realized recently I don't really have anyone outside of it to actually talk to. Like, real talk. Not "how was your day" but "how are you actually processing existence" talk.
The situation:
- Married, kids, suburban dad life
- Work full time, coach on weekends, somehow still forgets groceries
- Social life essentially evaporated after kid #2
- Most "friend" interactions are now just parents coordinating pick-up times
The problem:
I connect way better with women on an emotional/conversational level. Always have. The men in my life want to talk about sports or work. I want to talk about books, relationships, psychology, the messy stuff people actually think about at 2am. My female friends have all moved or gotten busy with their own lives, and I'm sitting here realizing I've got nobody to send a "this is complicated and I need perspective" text to.
About me:
- Reading constantly (literary fiction, memoirs, character studies)
- Started writing again - journaling, some creative stuff, mostly just trying to make sense of things
- Way too interested in human dynamics, why people do what they do, how relationships actually work vs. how they're supposed to work
- Non-judgmental to a fault - everyone's got a story, I've learned not to assume
Looking for:
- People who remember what it's like to have interests beyond parenting but also get why you can't shut up about your kid's weird obsessions
- Anyone who likes conversations that go sideways into "okay but seriously what are we all doing here" territory
- Female perspective specifically - just better chemistry for me conversationally
- Discord-friendly if we actually click (Reddit messaging is clunky)
If you're also drowning in responsibilities but your brain still works, message me. Tell me what you're reading or what you're processing lately.
