Walkability in Providence

I’m from the Northeast and am selling my car and moving to a more walkable city, ideally somewhere in New England. A big reason is that car ownership has become a major source of stress for me whenever issues come up, and I’ve noticed that I feel much happier, more active, and more connected to my environment when I’m in walkable cities.

I recently received a job offer in Providence and am interested in learning more about the more walkable neighborhoods there. I’d especially love insight from people who live car-free or mostly car-free in Providence. Walkscore says it’s very walkable with a score of 76.

From my research, I’ve seen these neighborhoods come up a lot: Fox Point, College Hill, Wayland Square, Federal Hill, and Downtown.

Would love any insight from people who live there, especially:
How realistic is it to rely primarily on walking/public transit there?
Which of these neighborhoods actually feel the most walkable day-to-day (groceries, coffee, errands, etc.)?
Any tradeoffs between them that aren’t obvious from Maps?
