Help removing/bypassing Manjaro encryption password of some sort, please

I tried holding the power key on an ASUS G733PZ after taking it apart and removing the battery but perhaps I didn't hold it long enough or leave the battery out long enough? No CR2032 for this one.

I am wondering if I should just attempt to hold the power button for longer/keep the battery uninstalled longer or if that isn't actually the way to remove the BIOS/encryption password that seems to have been set on installation.

It doesn't happen on startup, only when trying to enter the BIOS or, like I tried to do, boot from USB to reinstall OS or install another OS. And often I can't even get to the password entry without it just starting straight to desktop.
