Mailing Address Label Question, Priority Express

DISCUSSION

My mom wants to send an important document by Priority Mail Express. We were told that in addition to writing the address on the envelope, she should also write “EXPEDITE” on the envelope.

My mom would feel more comfortable having the postal clerk enter the address and print a label, but I am worried they may be too busy or not want to do it. I know she can handwrite the address herself, but this is important and I want to avoid mistakes or delays.

Since USPS discontinued the old Priority Mail Express labels, it seems like the options are: (1) clerk prints it, (2) use a kiosk, or (3) handwriting the address directly on the envelope. My mom does not want to use the kiosk because she has no experience.

Have people successfully mailed documents with a handwritten address on a Priority Mail Express envelope? Is handwriting it completely fine, or is it better to have the clerk print the label? Also, if she has to write things by hand, where does she write “EXPEDITE”?

How can I ensure that someone will help her create the label without giving her the excuse to do it herself? Is there a way to ask for it?
