*Why “Girl Rules” Is Frustrating So Many Thai GL Fans After EP9

After watching Episode 9 of Girl Rules, I honestly can’t hold back anymore.

This review is going to be a bit savage.

The cast is great.

But the script, editing, and directing completely wasted what could’ve been an amazing series.

A classic case of high expectations, disappointing execution.

1

As short clips?

The show looks like an exciting TikTok edit.

As a full episode?

It becomes a fragmented, chaotic mess.

Every episode feels like this.

It slowly drains the audience’s patience.

2

The editing feels like: “cut wherever the dream ends.”

This is not an ensemble drama.

It feels like three separate series stitched together.

The storytelling is way too fragmented.

Most scenes barely last three minutes before cutting away.

Every emotional buildup gets interrupted, almost like the show is afraid of letting viewers fully immerse themselves.

SHADES has the kind of ensemble storytelling and editing quality that Girl Rules should have had.

3

Every ghost ship exists just for the sake of being a ghost ship.

Every kiss exists just for the sake of random kissing.

It feels like a cheap relationship-combination simulator.

Only the lips are in chaos.

The actual storylines barely connect.

4

The trailer looked like a female version of Only Friends.

The actual series feels more like: “a group of innocent people pretending to be playgirls.”

It removed the emotional depth, leaving behind only awkward melodrama.

5

It’s not that the show is too dramatic.

It’s that the drama doesn’t feel emotionally believable.

6

The series keeps manufacturing drama nonstop.

Fight → reconcile → fanservice.

Repeat.

Again.

And again.

At this point, what is this show even trying to say?

7

ShaGo was the best storyline in the series.

And somehow the writers ruined that too.

The rooftop kiss in EP8 was genuinely beautiful.

So why did EP9 suddenly turn into emotional manipulation and pointless setup games?

Watching a character’s emotional growth suddenly regress like that is incredibly frustrating.

8

The OST is genuinely painful.

The melodies don’t work.

The music videos don’t work.

The lyrics feel meaningless.

And the vocal editing is so overprocessed that the singers barely sound like themselves anymore.

The OST from Enemies With Benefits is what Girl Rules should have sounded like.

9

The most successful thing this series achieved was gathering four huge GL pairings into one cast… and somehow making every fandom collectively lose their minds.

10

The saddest thing about Girl Rules is not that it’s bad.

It’s that fans waited over a year for this, only to watch eight talented actors get completely wasted.

There’s even a brutally cold opinion spreading across the fandom now:

“GMMTV never truly cared about this show.

They just wanted to cash in on a stacked cast.”

And honestly?

I can understand why people feel that way.

Even though the overall quality made me suffer,

I still have to admit:

Emi played the dangerously charming playgirl role incredibly well.

And Bonnie’s dance scene?

Absolutely lethal.

So pure-looking,

yet somehow incredibly flirty at the same time.

Dangerous.

Lastly,
congratulations to Love for collecting all the MEN (?)

Girl Rules EP5 Editing Breakdown Timeline

The show switches CPs and emotional beats almost every 2–3 minutes.
Before viewers can even get immersed, they’re forced to move to another table.
