Why are Tamil Nadu universities still facing VC appointment delays, administrative vacancies, and staff shortages for years?

Policy/Economy

Families are told: “wait” “file under process” “come next month” “approval pending”

— while the people who actually deserve compassionate grounds appointments are left struggling financially and mentally for years.

Compassionate appointment was created to support families immediately after losing a government employee. But what is the purpose if applicants are forced to wait endlessly inside bureaucratic delays?

Another painful issue is qualification mismatch.

Many MBA, BSc, BE and other degree holders reportedly end up being considered only for basic OA/attender-level postings instead of being matched properly with available vacancies and qualifications — even while universities and government offices themselves continue facing staff shortages.

At the same time, many applicants keep hearing stories about files moving faster only through influence, recommendations, or unofficial pressure. Whether every claim is true or not, the lack of transparency itself is creating frustration and distrust among deserving families.

There have already been Government Orders, court cases, and repeated demands regarding compassionate appointment delays over the years. Yet many affected families still feel there has been very little visible improvement in actual implementation speed.

This creates a larger question:

Why are compassionate grounds appointments still pending for years when many departments clearly need staff?

Why are qualified candidates left waiting while offices continue operating with vacancies and temporary arrangements?

This is not about charity. This is not just about politics.

This is about families asking for dignity, stability, and fairness after losing a parent or breadwinner who served the government.

How many others here are still waiting for compassionate appointment approval or facing similar delays?
