built a routine around my eczema triggers rather than around products and everything changed

once i identified my actual triggers through about three months of really consistent logging and then built my routine specifically to address those triggers rather than just following general sensitive skin advice, things changed significantly.

my specific triggers and how i built the routine around them:

fragrance and certain preservatives every single product i use now i check for methylisothiazolinone, fragrance, and benzyl alcohol specifically, not just the general fragrance free label, bc fragrance free can still contain some of these, this eliminated about sixty percent of my flares

hard water mineral buildup fitted a shower filter about eight months ago, this was genuinley transformative for my morning skin, washing without hard water feels genuinley different and my skin barrier disruption from cleansing reduced significantly

morning skin stripping switched from any kind of cleanser in the morning to just cool water rinse only, my skin does not need cleansing in the morning and cleansing twice a day was over stripping it

over moisturising with heavy products counterintuitively my skin does better with lighter moisturisers applied more frequently than heavy ones applied once, the heavy ones were occluding pores and creating a warm moist environment that was causing secondary issues

the routine is now entirely built around my specific triggers rather than around general good skincare practice and it genuinley performs so much better for my specific skin.

has anyone else rebuilt their routine around their personal triggers rather than general sensitive skin principles?
