Reader for accurate pages

Hello everyone. I’m looking for an ereader that’ll give me annotations in one place and have exact pages on it. The kindle seems to fit the best but I’m trying to stay away from the ecosystem. Is there any other reader? I read books and need the exact page for citations since I can’t mess that up for my research papers. Thank you.
