Title: Why do most students around Chiang Mai University ride scooters instead of bigger motorcycles?
Hi everyone, I recently visited the area around Chiang Mai University and noticed that most students seem to ride automatic scooters. I only saw one bigger motorcycle while I was there. I’m considering attending Chiang Mai University as an international student, and I’m thinking about buying a motorcycle there. I don’t want anything too big, but I was wondering why bigger bikes seem uncommon around campus. Is there any university rule or local regulation that makes students prefer scooters and small automatic bikes? Or is it simply because they are cheaper, easier to park or something like that? Would buying a small “big bike” or manual motorcycle be inconvenient around CMU/Chiang Mai? I’d really appreciate advice from anyone with experience living near the university.
