New job toxic?
For context I work in the medical field in a niche field.
I just started this new job (private practice) about 3 months ago after leaving my extremely toxic job at a large corporation company. I joined a few old coworkers at this new company and was super excited. Unfortunately there have been lots of red flags I’ve noticed the longer I’ve been there. A few examples: unfair scheduling, extreme hours(50 hours a week. 10 hour days with 15 minute lunches), the doctors are extremely rude to the staff, outdated equipment that breaks down multiple times a day. One of the doctors will single out employees and berate them for days. There’s been more bad days than good, and my family has said that I’m no longer my happy self. I recently had to have an emergency surgery, I’m still trying to recover and the one doctor keeps pressing for information about exactly what I had done. I did tell them the basics but that’s it and it’s starting to make me uncomfortable. Unfortunately the procedure I had to have done will have lots of follow ups and eventually additional procedures. I don’t see myself staying long term, it’s become evident that there’s absolutely no room for growth. I am thankfully in a good financial position and could take some time off to recover and look for another job. But I don’t want to burn bridges with the old coworkers who helped get me in at this job. I don’t it want to look weird putting in my notice after this surgery but I’m truly unhappy and need to recover and mentally prepare for the next procedure I’ll be having. I guess I’m unsure of how to proceed or what I should do. Thank you for any advice or suggestions
